Lincolnshire Amiga Group’s Upcoming Meeting on June 1st: Get Ready for Amiga Enthusiasm and Retro Computing Fun!
Mark your calendars! LAG is gearing up for another fun filled day on June 1st. This gathering promises to be an exciting opportunity for Amiga fans to connect, share their retro computing experiences, and showcase their impressive Amiga setups or is often the case. Bring along whatever it might be that they have been tinkering away on since the clubs last meeting.
As per usual there will be a table setup in the centre of the hall for anyone looking so upcycle or sell gear they are looking to off load.
If you haven’t yet come to one of our meets, I encourage you to come, with or without an Amiga. If the C64 or Spectrum is more your thing, bring it along.
Meeting times are as follows:
11:00AM – 5:00PM
Entrance fee: £10
(Free tea & coffee provided)
There is also a co-op less than 2 minutes walk from the hall for anyone looking to buy a sandwich, snacks or drink etc.
Welcoming in 2024

Hey Laggites! Let’s take a moment to reflect on what an amazing year 2023 has been for our beloved Lincolnshire Amiga group. Not only have we seen a significant increase in our numbers, but the retro computer scene as a whole seems to be thriving and healthy.
Thanks to our growing community, we’ve outgrown our previous meeting space and are excited to announce that we’ll be moving to the main hall for all our gatherings in 2024. This new venue will allow us to accommodate even more new members and create an even better experience for everyone involved.
Looking ahead, we’ve got some big plans in store for 2024. We’re thrilled about the opportunities that lie ahead and can’t wait to bring you more exciting events centered around our beloved Amiga computers.
So buckle up, folks! The Lincolnshire Amiga group is growing stronger by the day, and we’re absolutely thrilled about what the future holds. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this incredible journey together!

LAG 81, Wrapping up 2023
Hey there, fellow Amiga enthusiasts! Let’s talk about the 81st meeting of the Lincolnshire Amiga group, which happened to be our final gathering of 2023 right before Christmas. And boy, did we end the year with a bang!
First off, I have to say that we had a great turn out at this meet. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and welcome some new ones as well, a contingent of the Scottish Amiga group no less! It’s always a pleasure to greet members from other clubs and do our best to make them feel welcome. Truly for me this what makes Amiga’s so much fun, being able to meet people from all over and share in the same hobby!
One exciting topic that was discussed during the meeting was the possibility of moving to a larger hall for our future gatherings. And guess what? All club members gave their support for this idea! It seems like we’re ready to expand and accommodate even more Amiga lovers. Having the larger hall could also lend itself to other opportunity, such as LAG holding another one off meet like our 10 year anniversary. Where we had traders and other clubs in attendance.
Now let’s talk about the star of the show – the Amiga computers! We had quite a collection at this meet, ranging from the classic A1200 and A500 models to an A4000 in need of some tender loving care. It’s always fascinating to see these vintage machines still going strong and bringing joy to our hearts. As per usual CDTV’s were out in numbers, for a rare computer, we are now averaging 2-3 a meet. If things get any worse, I might have to recommend we rebrand and call the club the “Lincolnshire Amiga CDTV Group”.
All in all, it was an incredible way to wrap up 2023 with such a memorable meeting. The Lincolnshire Amiga group continues to thrive, and we can’t wait for what lies ahead in the new year. Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming events and keep spreading that Amiga love!
7th, October LAG 80!

Holy moly where does the time fly? It doesn’t seem that long since we were all sat around in Welton Hall messing around with our Amiga’s. And here we are again and it’s not just ANY meet, but LAG 80!!! How did that happen? Back when I joined the club in early 2006, I don’t think I ever envisioned I would be here in 2023 enjoying my passion for Amiga and retro computers. I feel genuinely blessed for all the years I’ve been part of Lincolnshire Amiga Group, the friendships forged. When I took over from Michael “Rockape” as club chairman, it wasn’t long after that the world was plunged in to a global pandemic. Not exactly the best start to my tenure in the big seat, but here we are nearly 4 years later and honestly it’s been a privilege.
Attendance numbers are up, so much so, that we might have to consider relocating to a larger room if the current trend keeps up. Given we are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic, I have to say I’m more than pleased with where the club is right now and that is in no small measure thanks to it’s members. If it wasn’t for you guys, there wouldn’t be LAG. So I hope you’ll join me this Saturday for a day of self indulging Amiga geekery.

5th, August – LAG 79

As August approaches, it’s time to start planning for meet 79 and what kit to bring. I’ve recently added a CDTV to my collection of Commodore computers and I’m fully planning on bringing it along to the next meet along with whatever software I can get my mitts on. Have you recently added anything to your collection?
It’s certainly an interesting time in the Amiga scene, new games being released, multiple magazines to choose from and only this weekend the UK’s largest Amiga event “Kickstart” is being held, organised by Retro Hours own, Ravi Abbot.
I for one can’t recall when we last had it so good, certainly buying new boxed games is without a doubt amazing and my many thanks go to the many talented developers still supporting the humble Amiga.

For a long time I’ve felt the CDTV was somewhat enigmatic, having never really established itself as the A500 had done before it. At the time Compact Disc was still a novelty, it wasn’t until they became common in PC’s that they really took hold in the computer market. The debate as to why the CDTV didn’t succeed has been the subject of debate for years. Personally I think Commodore dropped the ball, not knowing how to market the CDTV. Either way it’s going to be fun getting to know its quirks and play around with a computer I know little to nothing about. So come to LAG 79, you’re sure to see me sitting at a table, scratching my head and wondering what I’m doing.

1st, April – LAG 77

Boy does time fly when you’re taking apart Amiga’s and dealing with leaky caps! So after our stonking first meet of 2023, how can we possibly top it? Red arrows signing the club name in the sky? Give away a Blizzard 1260? (Ed: That’s not really happening, they’re too damned expensive these days!!)
I hope you all will join us for LAG #77, we have many new faces since our meet in January and enthusiasm in Amiga’s and Commodore computers seems to be on a high. So why not blow the dust of those floppies, dig the A1200 out from under the bed and add “Playing Amiga” to the calendar under 1st of April.
LAG 76 – 4th February – Special Guest Speaker David Pleasance

The clubs first meeting for 2023 and already we are off to a great start. It
is with the greatest pleasure I can announce LAG 76 shall have a guest speaker, none other than David Pleasance, former Commodore UK executive, musician and author.
David will be giving a presentation covering his latest project and will be happy to sign any Commodore related items for attendees.
