LAG 5 Date Confirmed

LINCS AMIGA GROUP have confirmed (well as well as one can) that our next meeting will take place on June 2nd 2007.

We will be meeting at our usual venue at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, Outer Cirlce Road, Lincoln. The meeting will start at 12pm as per usual and will go on until 5pm-ish, with a meal afterwards for those who are able to stay.

LAG 4 Report – finally!

Yes, I have got around to it at last. What with dying of various ailments (colds, hayfever etc…), work (and its associated effects) and then shooting off to London for 5 days, I haven’t had a chance to make up any decent excuses for not writing the reports!

Still, here we are. LAG 4 went really well, probably our best meeting yet computing-wise. We managed to get 4 Amigas online via the events wireless thanks to Gaz and Mark’s efforts in wrangling with the network and Miami respectively.

We were able to take a quick look at the second beta of the Sputnik web browser for MorphOS (coming soon to OS 4?). It’s definitely work in progress but it’s getting there!

There were plenty of Amigas of all types, displaying the usual wide array of games, applications and utilities, including 3D rendering, Web Browsers and classic games of Amiga time, like Speedball 2 and Seek & Destroy.

We had a great day, and can’t wait to do it all again at the next meeting… speaking of which the next meeting (LAG 5) is pencilled in for June 2nd 2007. Once again we are at the Chamber of Commerce, Outer Cirlce Road, Lincoln. All comers welcome.

LAG 4 Date finalised

Sorry, I’ve been slacking (some LAG members are not surprised apparently ;o) ) . We have however finalised the date for the fourth LAG meeting. LAG4 will be held at our usual venue (LINCS Chamber of Commerce, Outer Circle, Lincoln) on April 7th 2007.

LAG 3 Reminder!

Reminder to all members and/or LAG attendees that the third LAG meeting will be held on SATURDAY of this week at the Lincs Chamber of Commerce, Outer Circle Road Lincoln. We will be starting around 11:30-12:00 hopefully, weather permitting – looks cold and wet for the Lincoln area but not like snow as far as we can see.

LAG 3 – What’s On? (Updated)

Just to let you in on what may (or may not!!) be happening at LAG 3 so you have something o look forward to, here’s a rundown of some stuff expected to be at the show (subject to change without notice – we’re only human):

MacMiga’s Amiga1500 – Currently in a bit of a state worse than China, but getting better, I’ve been having mysterious disk and RAM problems. Robert17 and I will have it apart all over the table at LAG 3 trying to diagnose it. Robert17 also wants to test his GVP 2060 (yes a 68060 for the Amiga 2000 – neat huh!) in the machine as he is having motherboard compatibility issues with it on his older Rev 4.x board.

MacMiga’s Ultra600 Project – Amiga 600 meets Mac, this is proof that the A600 can be made into a serious desktop Amiga! More HERE.

Robert17’s AmigaONE XE G4 – Currently I have this on loan, but I’ll be handing it back to Robert at the meeting. It’ll be fired up and on show for all to see running the Final Release version of Amiga OS 4.0.

rockape’s uA1 G3 – Hopefully, with luck and a following wind, MacMiga may be performing an OS4 Final upgrade for all to see (having practiced in controlled conditions on Rob’s A1XE).

gaz_god’s Pegasos(s?) – Gaz will have his Pegasos with MorphOS running at the meeting, as ever. The Peg’s presence at LAG 2 was notable by the fact Gaz spent half them meeting playing Duke Nukem 3d :). Gaz has informed me he hopes to run a demo of the prerelease version of Sputnik, the CSS enabled web browser for MorphOS.

LAG3 Date Update

LAG’s 3rd meeting date has now been confirmed as FEBRUARY 10th 2007 (NOT the Feb. 3rd as was provisionally posted). The meeting will take place at our usual venue at Commerce House, Outer Circle Road, Lincoln.

As usual all Amiga enthusiasts are welcome, you don’t have to be a member. We usually reconvene for a meal at the local pub/restaurant after the meeting, to which meeting atendees are also welcome.

We look forward to seeing you there!

LAG2 Report

Our second meeting was another great gathering of Amiga minds. All those from LAG1 (MacMiga, rockape, Robert17, gaz-god and cyka), we also welcomed another new member to the club. Steve is a long time friend of gaz-god, and the one held responsible for getting him back into the Amiga scene. Steve is currently working on a project to fit an A4000 and Zorro busboard into the case from and A1500 (don’t worry, it was a spare!!). We look forward to seeing more of Steve and how that project is coming along.

We had a good collection of Amiga hardware (and a couple of Windows laptops but we shan’t mention those!). 1200s, 4000s, A1s and a Pegaos made up the mix this time out.

As part of the club’s continued commitment to assist new members to get up and running, it has put together its resources to loan cyka an Amiga 1200 system with monitor. cyka has been out of the scene for a while but we could tell he was once an Amigan, he happily spent most of the meeting playing Syndicate! We wish him many happy hours of enjoyment from the machine and hope it encourages him to scrape up his hard earned pennies and invest in an Amiga he can call his own!

As ever there is a picture here.

LAG1 a great success

The inaugural meeting of the Lincolnshire Amiga Group took place on Saturday October 7th at Commerce House in Lincoln. The meeting was attended by 5 of our members, rockape (Chariman), gaz_god (Treasurer), Robert17 (Vice Chairman), MacMiga (Secretary) and cyka.

Loads of hardware from A1s to old classic machines were up and running during the meeting and much discussion took place. It was a great day and on behalf of the club I’d like to thank all that attended.
